Time-weighted — the number up top
Chains the return of each sub-period between valuation snapshots, then multiplies them together. Adding or withdrawing cash changes the size of the portfolio but not the chain, so the result measures the decisions, not the funding. That is why it is the only figure fair to set against an index.
Money-weighted — the numbers per holding
Solves for the rate that makes every actual cash flow balance, so buying more before a run-up counts for more than buying after it. It measures the dollars. Two holdings with the same price chart can post different IRRs purely on timing.
Both exclude capital-gains tax and both net out an assumed 15% dividend withholding. Neither is “the real one” — they answer different questions, which is why the page shows both.
